December 2019 monthly report by Charles Brecheisen

Greetings Altair Shipmates.  Here is your monthly report for December 2019.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  Let's all have a Happy, Healthy and a Prosperous 2020.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Navy football team winning the Liberty Bowl over Kansas State 20-17.

FINANCIAL:  The beginning and ending cash on hand is $32.33 with no deposits or expenses.  The beginning and ending of the Altair savings is $12,094.57 with no income or expenses.  Total of $12,126.90.

SHIPMATE PASSING:  Shipmate Karl Carey, EM2, 1963-1964 passed away December 26, 2019.  Our condolences to the Carey family.  The family can be contacted at:  16122 Amber Vista Dr., Ellisville,  MO  63021.  I will send a card from the entire crew.

SHIP INFORMATION:   Many years ago, I bought microfilm reels from the government listing ships and all the crew information contained therein.  I bought the entire collection of years that the USS Altair was in existence, 1952 to 1969.  Not only is the Altair listed, but many other supply and support ships are listed, AO, AK, AE, etc.  These reels contain a wealth of information for the entire year.  This is how I started searching the Altair shipmates.  I have the following year reels available: 1952, 1954, 1955/56, 1957, 1959, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1968. Missing reels were sent out many years ago and never returned.  I found a printing microfilm reel reader at a hospital library in Tyler, TX and was able to print out any record that I needed for ten cents each.  I can send any reel to a shipmate if they want to look up your old records.  Just send me an email.  But, please return the reel when done!!!!

All for now.  Please contact me at "cmbaltairaks32 [at] fastmail.us" for additional information or comments.

Best Regards To All.......Charles
